Our deacons are elected by the congregation to exemplify the servant-heart of Christ: gathering our resources and motivating our hearts for the felt-needs of those among us and around us.
Bob Kimmel
Bob and his wife Marge have been attending Deep Run since 2017 and live in a log cabin they built thirty-seven years ago. Bob has been walking with the LORD for over forty years. He retired after thirty years with the Carroll County Government, followed by ten years serving as a Good News Jail & Prison Ministry Chaplain at the Carroll County Detention Center. Bob brings a love for people and seasoned knowledge of the local community into his work as a deacon.
Erik Olson
Erik and his wife Theresa have been worshiping at Deep Run since 2015. His relationship with Christ traces back to his high school years when he was actively involved with a Lutheran youth group in Aspen Hill, MD. He and Theresa enjoy reading and studying books together, including some influential works by C.S. Lewis. Erik is excited to serve this congregation and this community in whatever way God pleases. Deep Run's mission to engage with the Westminster community in a culturally-aware and biblically-centered way is what excites him most about serving as a deacon. Erik and Theresa live in Sykesville, and Erik works in electronics manufacturing in White Marsh, MD.
Steve White
Steve and his wife Cynthia have attended and helped develop Deep Run since the very beginning in 2014 as members of the original launch team. Steve has been a follower of Jesus since 1972 and received his Masters of Divinity in 2000, serving for a while as a pastor in the United Methodist Church. He is currently Deep Run's Treasurer. The vision of this church and its ministry to Westminster is very attractive to Steve, who feels called to a ministry of service. He and Cynthia have been married for fifty-four years and currently live in Taneytown, MD.
