God's Vision for Samaria - John 4:1-42

January 23, 2022 Speaker: Brian LoPiccolo Series: Gospel of John

Passage: John 4:1–42

The Christian gospel breaks stereotypes, challenges assumptions, and recommissions us to reach others. Despite our false assumptions Jesus meets us “where we are” and leads us beyond there, into his mission of fulfilling God’s plan for the world’s salvation.  Both the Samaritan woman and Jesus' disciples, in their own ways, interacted with Jesus based upon what they assumed was true from their own personal, historical, and cultural perspectives. Jesus however broke their stereotypes, challenged their assumptions, and lead them to see God’s vision for people and deployed them to participate in it. Jesus was “missional” and made both the Samaritan woman and his disciples missional.
